Fuck Yeah! I'm excited now.
Who's handling vocals? And with 3 Hot Snakes in the band, can we expect that kinda sound?
And I'm with Barry - any news on the RFTC DVD? |

If Swamage is doing the vocals, I'll may actually explode with excitement. |

Actually I was hoping it would be Gar - but in more of a tanner style than an beehive style if ya know what I mean
But fuck it doesnt really matter, I can't see how this band is going to be anything other than awesome with that pedigree (well i still havent heard CPC GB's but i assume its good) |

| Supercool. You know we're gonna but whatever the SW@MI puts out. Vocals, guitar, whatever... I'm really excited about this. Can't wait to hear it. A return trip to sunny San Diego might just need to be arranged... |

| I like both their voices they are 2 totally different styles, I think it would be really cool if they both sang. It worked for the Clash and Fugazi just to name a few. I can’t wait to hear the production. They are also both are very gifted working with knobs in the studio. This can only be great. |

SW@MI wrote: started recording a couple weeks back and and now we're taking a week off. we'll resume soon and probably be done by the end of aug.
we is jason k of hot snakes drums, gar wood guitar, and tommy gangbang of the cpc gangbangs bass.
the fox thing is mostly false. i was asked months back to do a SW@MI segment every episode (which i was into). then the show got cancelled. i have not been contacted by anyone since. most of what ken leighton writes about in the reader is total bs. just ask him!!
beehive record is done. just waiting on artwork and a release date. it's a corker!
I opened up a bar with some friends which has been fun. Bar Pink Elephant. I work on most Sunday days. I am also booking bands there. Bob Log, The Spits, King Khan BBQ, Jay Reatard, The Woggles, Beehive are all doing shows there in the coming months.
This new thing that I having been putting together will most likely play there in Sept. I just want to finish the record first.
baby SW@MI is doing great. he wants everyone to send cuban montecristos no. 2's so that daddy will smile once in a while.
sorry for the silence. it's been a starnge half year. things are starting to come together and we should be back to our normal appearance of indifference soon (as opposed to complete neglect and absence).
I am looking forward to seeing you all soon!
love swam-i
Rockin' good news.
Do they have to be Cuban Montecristos, or will the Dominican variety be OK? |

montecristo no 2 is only made in cuba I believe. it takes an expert roller and when coupled with perfectly blended cuban tobacco it is a life affirming experience. fuckin superb.
the new band has me on lead vocals and gar doing lots of backups. the sound is a combonation of everything I've been a part of dating back to my prepubescent days in pitchfork. similar to hot snakes but not as sinister yet still maintaining some of the drama and subsonic boom. akin to the rockin fun of rftc but without the same kind of riffery. like the sultans but not as straightforawrd yet still maintaining the sense of melody and pop of the 2nd record. occassional nods to the flamin groovies, real kids, byrds, boogie rock era status quo, bo diddley, chess records in general, wipers, michael yonkers and shuggie otis are evident to me.
the name of the band is.....................speedo |

Perfect name. Sounds like it may need a "and the....." to me since I know Speedo as a persona. Speedo and the Orangutans! I'm sure this will supplant the rest of this thread.
I looked in the stogies, and damn are they pricey. I found one website that will mail them from canada for a mere $40 a pop. If anyone wants to thrown in on some, I'm down. |

| Zoinks! The resurrection of Speedo. I've missed that guy. Great news SW@MI. Perhaps regular Speedo Halloween shows should be also return as a San Diego fixture. If so you might just get some return visitors from good old Blighty... |

this sounds good to me. I'm always down with john on vocals and guitar. I dont believe the band name is really Speedo though... could that be right?
Speedo resurrected? Now we know why he dumped those clowns - going solo baby! haha |

| When Hot Snakes were in the UK the crowds kept chanting Speedo (despite the fact SW@MI was always John for HS purposes), so I guess this band name would make sense to help avoid other band members getting kinda miffed by their lack of oral adulation. As it were. |
