a couple things id like to TRY to briefly address re: the board and what's been going on in swamiville.
the board is a place for yous. not me so much. its intent is to bring like minded people together to discuss sushi, bbq, jamican blue mountain coffee, exotic fruits and occassionally music. What makes this thing "rock or rot" is the contributions you/we give or don't give to each other. yes, time to time I drop in and muddy the waters and I do accept responsibility for the fact that no news has resulted in little excitement in this board as of late. but I always got the feeling that many of us are friends & it was understood where we are all coming from. therefore, my close watchful eye wasn't something that was necessarily required (or possibly even desired by some of you). it should be obvious that unsolicited criticisms, rampant over clarifications and a constant need to refute, rebutt and argue don't really interest me. our time is more valued. one need look no further than your own toilet to find the SW@MI suggestion box. this might sound insensitive to some, but to me i really don't care if someone doesn't like a certain record i made or my voice or the way i spit when i laugh sometimes or pee a little when i cough. this is not to say i don't care if i am liked. i want people to like me and my music but what does that have to do with someone telling me they don't like my art? it's not gonna change the way i do anything. contrary to unpopluar opinion we are not customers of rock n roll. we buy this art with the hopes that it will make us feel something great, not because we need a household appliance. the true practioners of this lost language are often mistaken as being committed to it's preservation. this is not the case. rebel music in all of it's various and glorious incarnations is always the product of mavericks who are not bound by our opinions. i am not suggesting that i am of this cloth, merely someone who is a student of this mentality. and as for commerce, that certainly doesn't dictate the importance or validity of a work of art to me. it's profound equity is impossible to accurately measure but one thing is certain, it's true value only exists in how it affects me. i continue to really appreciate everyones support and what i mean by that specifically is i am grateful that anyone cares about the sounds that eminate from this place. being connected to a worlldwide rock n roll family is not the inspiration for my music, but it is a by-product that outshines any other reward i have experienced in this journey. that said, if there was no interest for what im doing, i'd still do it anyway. it's who i am. ok ok i know, i know, im preaching to the choir. it's just very difficult to restrain myself when being attacked but if i can do it then we all can. I will say that I won't kick anyone of the board unless everyone here wants me to. and I certainly see no reason to kick someone off that is committed to never posting here ever again. especially when they are so good for my Compu-board Ratings (this weeks SW@MI site up 465 digishares).
so what is happening? well lots continues to cook in the city of refuge.
ok, kinda dumb story. the new band with the speedo moniker. well, i signed a post regarding naming this new band as dot dot dot dot speedo, intending to build drama. something like " the name of the new band is............ speedo". not meaning the band name is speedo but more as a "to be continued" cliffhanger and then signed by me. so i did not intend to tell everyone that the name of the new band is speedo, although it is a rather genius name..........speedo.
we have been working on this record for months. Dave Gardner who engineered Camp X Ray recorded most of it. We did it almost all at City Of Refuge (the new Drag Racist). Mixing is being done by Ben Moore as I type. The record will be done in another couple of weeks. We recorded 22 songs. We will finish 18 of them. Dunno how many of them will make their way on the record.
the song that i leaked on the SSS is called Dead Sleep(I snore ZZZZ). it is a way ruff version of a song that will most likely end up on the record. the other songs we recorded don't sound like they are from this same mold.
other song titles include Anchovy Pier Argument, Do The Meatball, Fisting The Fanbase, Moshing On Black Ice and the hopefull single, Scene Report.
as for release date, it definitely won't see the light o day til next year.
as for shows, we're hoping to do some sd dates in jan. we need to finish the record first tho b4 any plans r made.
the spits spent a couple days in city of refuge a couple months back. the results thus far are all pointing towards their best record yet. the songs are painfully memorable and triumphantly uplifting. More news when it's "in the can".
the cudas have been sitting on their new record adjusting and tweaking things over the last couple months. It's done now and we can now say without reservation that early 2008 it will be unleashed. I will give you more insight when we nail down a specific date.
CPC Gangbangs are planning a US tour. I will get you some dates as they trickle in.
Dan Sartain is working on new songs and recording them in his basement. Expect a more feverish, hectic wallop this time around.
The RFTC last show DVD/CD will be released by Vagrant early 2008.
Other SW@MI releases in 2008 will be RFTC ASG3 (a 2 disc set).
Hot Snakes live DVD/CD
I know....you'll believe it when you see it. I say the same.
2007 was/is not a rebuilding year. It has been a year of gradual dismantling. You didn't hear it from me but times are tuff for everyone and SW@MI the label is no exception. We will make the adjustments (ie sign boy bands and fund bestiality porn sites) and find ways to continue to penetrate the marketplace.
to be cumtinued,

| Anything you do is okay by me SW@MI, except fuck my sister. I know, I know, I bet you've already been there. That must be why she needed that hip replacement. Anyways, thanks for the update. Can't wait for 2008! |

| Speaking as a fellow Big Island-ophile, I have to say that "City of Refuge" is the greatest studio name I have ever heard. Mahalo for the updates! |

Swamiville could be an ace TV show. Just make sure you don't cast Annette O'Toole as the SW@MI's mother, her lips scare the shit out of me.
ASG3 2 discs. Sweet. I'm still praying Tiger Feet Tonight makes the cut.
The new band isn't called Speedo? Weak. I knew it was too good to be true.
Whatever the new band is actually called I think all the fans should only ever refer to them as Speedo, that way they'll have to rename the band!!!
Whose with me? I'm guessing nobody, hahaha. Doheth. |

Fantastic news. Thanks for the update SW@MI, and hopefully it should be as obvious to you as anyone else that RyRy has some problems which are not connected to anything you've done or not done. The guy needs to get some help. You don't need to explain your action. Do what you do and people can either like it or not like it.
Very excited by the various release news, and for the record, I still think the new band should be called 'Speedo' |

I have to disagree, the name Speedo should only be resurrected if ND, Petey X, JC2000, Apollo 9 and Ruby Mars are involved. Its too much a part of RFTC for me. Just my two pence. |
