Earth Girls - Wrong Side Of History EP
The Chicago-based band Earth Girls featuring Liz Panella- guitar/vocals (Libyans, Siamese Twins, Broken Prayer), Jeff Rice- drums (Daylight Robbery), and Joey Kappel- bass (Broken Prayer, Boilerman), began in early 2013 following two previous incarnations as The Waifs (2008) and Embarrassed Teens (2011). Bonding over a shared love for both hook-laden garage / pop-punk and energy drinks, Liz and Jeff began practicing incessantly that summer, writing both new material as well as refining songs that had made it through the ranks of the two previous bands.

Along with Joey (who had logged time in Embarrassed Teens), Earth Girls finished up writing the songs that would make up their demo that summer. However, the band held off on recording as they worked on securing a second guitar player. Struggling with a revolving cast of second guitar players (who have included Kale Mouser, Vince Aguilar, and Nic Allred), they opted to record as a trio, with Liz handling both rhythm and guitar tracks. Their first recording session consisted of nine songs, including the five song demo and four songs that would go on to make up their debut EP, "Wrong Side of History."

With both a demo release and first show planned for Feburary of 2014 at Engine Haus in Chicago, Earth Girls were also making plans to self-release the "Wrong Side of History" EP later that spring when they were approached by Grave Mistake Records who had recently heard the demo and EP tracks and expressed interest in working with the band. Drunken Sailor Records quickly got on board for a UK version of the EP, and "Wrong Side of History" will see it's official release on June 17th, 2014.

This is the UK/ Europe version. 300 on Blue/ White mix

Baby Ghosts - Maybe Ghosts LP

Baby Ghosts, are a punk band with roots in the Provo/SLC areas. With their second full length release “Maybe Ghosts,” Baby Ghosts continue with their creative and quirky punk tunes. With a lo-fi sound that fills each track with a inviting fuzziness, Baby Ghosts deliver another fantastic combination of it’s garage sound, stylistic vocals, and dynamic atmosphere.
The point that keeps coming back with “Maybe Ghosts” is the atmosphere around the 12 tracks. The tracks are pretty straightforward in composition, but what makes Baby Ghosts unique is the nature of the songs. In simple terms, this album will rule your life.
THIS IS A PRE-ORDER AND WILL SHIP AROUND THE SECOND WEEK IN AUGUST, BUT AS SOON AS YOU BUY THE LP I WILL SEND YOU A DOWNLOAD CODE, BECAUSE...THE FUTURE.

Released on Drunken Sailor/ Dirt Cult/ Hip Kid and Lost Cat records

Boston Anarcho Punks No Sir I Won't return with their 4th record, Shit, and in my opinion their best. Made up of ex and current members of Surrender Libyans, Witches With Dicks, Shithead, Brain Killer and Foreign Objects.
5 brand new songs of relentless, political punk. Where NSIW wear their Flux Of The Pink Indians/ Conflict and Crass influences on their sleeves, they breathe new life into what had maybe become a stale genre.
No Sir, I Won’t play revolutionary anarcho-punk without plagiarism, but developed into a modern form. This is anarcho-punk at it’s finest, music like this makes you want to change the world. Exhilarating and thought-provoking, if you don’t like a message in your music this is not for you. No Sir I Won't might just be one of the most important bands around.

100 Brown Vinyl/ 400 Black Vinyl. Each record comes with a download code.

Crow Bait - Separate Stations 7" Pre - Order
The band is from New York featuring three guys that you probably know from past and current projects such as Sister Kisser, and Iron Chic. But if you're checking this out on the basis of the band members' past and current projects, expecting to hear another "Not Like This" or "Vipers" - two very good records for the record - prepare to be left scratching your head.

Crow Bait, while clearly looking forward, is also clearly trying to create something that resembles the music they grew up on - Goo Goo Dolls, Buffalo Tom, The Replacements, etc. And they do a damn good job. If you're like me, and you never change the dial when a good 90's alt-rock song comes on the radio, this record is right up your alley.

Split release with Dirt Cult (USA)

*****This is a Pre-Order, it will ship around the second week in December, just so you are aware. Thanks!****

Stay Clean Jolene debut LP now for sale

Debut album from this consistently brilliant punk rock super-group!

Featuring members of The Leif Ericsson and The Great St. Louis, Stay Clean Jolene's pedigree speaks for itself. It should therefore come as no surprise to learn that their debut, self-titled, album is a masterclass in how to pen perfect, anthemic, heart-on-sleeve punk-rock in 2014.

While many bands of this ilk are more concerned with what's going on across the pond at the latest Fest than with the rich legacy of homegrown legends like Leatherface and Snuff, SCJ play homage to the UKs finest while building on the incredible foundation of their previous bands output to produce an album greater than the sum of it's parts.

From the stomping opener, "Concrete Block" to the already classic "Record" (a song featured on the bands' debut 7" but re-recorded here), this is an album that rushes headlong, beginning to end, with a sense of confidence you seldom here these days.

These 4 lads know exactly what they're doing and Stay Clean Jolene is the breathtaking result. At the end of the day, it's an album so good that labels like Dead Broke, Drunken Sailor, Rad Girlfriend, Eager Beaver (all releasing the vinyl version) and co-releasers of the CD, Just Say No To Government Music, jumped on board without a moments hesitation.

Black and Limited Red Vinyl available here

Crow Bait - Separate Stations 7" EP

Featuring members of Iron Chic and Sister Kisser, artwork by Marissa Paternoster/ Screaming Females.

Hot of the heels of their debut LP entitled "Sliding Through the Halls of Fate" on Don Giovanni Records, Crow Bait returns.

Martha/ Benny The Jip Rodriguez 7"

Two of my favourite bands come together on this amazing split.
Martha are probably the best English pop band of the last 10 years, everything they touch turns to gold.
After last years perfect debut LP 'Courting Strong', here are two brand new songs, 'The Historian' and an amazing Masshysteri cover of 'Dom Kan Inte Höra Musiken'. Currently writing their 2nd LP, world domination awaits.
Benny The Jip Rodriguez from San Pedro follow up their debut LP Home. Run on Recess Records with these new killer songs. I read somewhere that Benny the Jip Rodriguez find a balance between the simple and the complex, between yesterday and today. Lo-fi pop genius, can't get enough of this band.
First 100 on Blue.
Comes with download card and also an instant download of the mp3s.

The Basement Benders - ST 7" EP

****Co-release with Dead Broke Rekerds*****

Tons of bands that I fall in love with seem to either be from or have a link to Chattanooga. I have no idea what they put in the water (Beer) there, but I want some.
The Basement Benders are no exception, fresh from a short European tour and have already written their debut LP. Featuring members of Future Virgins/ This Bike Is A Pipe Bomb/ Hidden Spots/ Dark Rides/ Tulsa/ Stun Guns/ Black Rainbow/ Cleveland Bound Death Sentence/ Sexy.
It's hard to define what kind of genre they fit into, i dunno, but i do know that all the songs have a soul, an optimism and each tell a story. Obviously they rule too. A band to fall in love with.

Comes with download card and instant mp3s download on purchase.

The Fur Coats - Short Brain 7" EP OUT NOW!
Chicago Power Poppers 'The Fur Coats are back with this 4 track EP to coincide with their UK tour.
Short-Brain is the latest 7″ by The Fur Coats, the musical vehicle of Chicagoan (recently Brooklynite) Marc Ruvolo. Marc has enjoyed a long and storied career as a musician and promoter, from booking his first DIY punk show in 1984, to fronting a number of long-running bands (No Empathy, Traitors, The Atari Star, Das Kapital), to running the Johann’s Face Records label (since 1989 – recently passed the one-hundred-release mark!).

Wanting to tour more frequently, but finding the original members of the Coats unavailable, Ruvolo has now opted for a revolving cast of characters in terms of live and studio rhythm sections. Joining him for the four songs on Short-Brain are John Polydoros (Off With Their Heads, Vacation Bible School) along with Chris Mattern on bass, with Kyle Manning (Tens/Costanza), handling drum duties. The 7″ also features cover art by the UK’s scribblin’ wunderkind, Wolfmask.

The four songs on Short-Brain fall into the realm of pop-punk/power-pop, and showcase Ruvolo’s love for melody, while still throwing in an odd lyrical turn or two. Recorded in Chicago, if you listen closely you can hear the influences of some of his favorite favorite bands: Naked Raygun, The Smoking Popes, and the Buzzcocks.

Split release with Rad Girlfriend Records (US) and Make That A Take (UK)

Marvelous Mark - Bite Me 7" EP (ex Marvelous Darlings)
Marvelous Mark is the moniker of Mark Fosco, formerly of the band Marvelous Darlings, which also included Matt Delong from No Warning and Ben Cook who plays guitar in Fucked Up. Essentially they were a Toronto punk supergroup "before they were famous", but their limited catalogue - a string of seven-inches - stuck like staples within a cult fanbase long after they called it quits.
Now Mark has a solo project. With the title track previously released on Ben Cook's own label Bad Actors, Bite Me is made up of three succinct tracks so infectious they should come with their own NHS advice leaflet. We’re talking power-pop with punk roots.
It's every bit as brilliant as you'd expect from a guy who uses "Marvelous" as a prelude to his actual name.
Sound of your summer.

Wonk Unit - Feel The Wonkness LP OUT NOW!
Wonk Unit were formed several years ago by Alex Johnson, formerly of The Flying Medallions, I’m told they began as a performance art project, essentially a vehicle for vocalist Alex. Alex Johnson is a one off. He provokes reaction. Poet, songwriter, performer, "tourtured soul", there isn't much that life hasn't already thrown at him.
Wonk Unit have released several albums on CD and become one of the hardest working bands in the UK, playing countless gigs (I mean, they even have their own festival, Wonk Fest!).
An obvious reference point would be Snuff (hell, Duncan Redmonds even plays on some songs and occasionally drums for them live), with the perfect UK pop- punk sound, organ and horns. Wonk Unit are much more than that though, with songs that are fun, energetic, heartfelt, thought provoking, angry, hilarious, exciting and catchy as fuck.
Never afraid to push boundaries, whilst having a sound born out of Snuff/ Wat Tyler/ China Drum, they still have an originality that makes them unique.
With songs chosen by the band, Johanns Face and Drunken Sailor and taken from the albums 'Trolleys, Muffy, Nervous Racehorse and a couple of exclusive songs, we think it is the perfect introduction to one of the best UK bands.

Vinyl (Drunken Sailor Records), Digital (Johanns Face Records)
Mastered by North London Bomb Mastering.
First 100 on Green Vinyl, comes with instant download (also a download card with the LP for people who prefer lossless) and insert.

No Ditching/ Baby Ghosts 7", Spokenest - Gone, Gone, Gone LP, Downtown Boys - ST 7" EP OUT TODAY!

We have 3 brand new releases in the store, go grab them!
No Ditching/ Baby Ghosts 7"
No Ditching are a five piece band from the village of Pity Me, Durham. The band consists of Naomi on vocals and guitar, Freya on bass, Kate on drums, Elle playing an extra tom drum, and Laura on guitar.
From Pity Me, Durham and featuring members of featuring members of Fashanu, Jazz in My Pants and Bear Park and of course Martha, ever since I heard their demo I was addicted.
Raw, snotty punk, kinda Raincoats meet Les Calamites.
Two brand new songs, world domination awaits.

Coming off the back of their amazing LP 'Maybe Ghosts, Baby Ghosts are back with their first new song in a while. And what an absolute banger it is. Garage rock sounds tucked behind blaring punk goodness.
Baby Ghosts blend of high-powered guitar, tight percussion and vocals that pop with snarling, dynamic energy is proof that punk can be impressively executed but still a total blast to listen to.
First 100 on Purple Vinyl

Streaming over at Noisey http://noisey.vice.com/en_uk/blog/premiere-no-ditching-baby-ghosts-split-ep

Spokenest - Gone, Gone, Gone LP
“New 12 song, 30 minuted LP. 3 years in the making. Dissonance and melody. Superchunk and hardcore,” guitarist and co-vocalist Daryl Gussin explains. Joined by drummer Adrian Tenney, the pair formed out of God Equals Genocide to create some lo-fi brilliance.

Arriving about three years after the release of their debut 12″ EP We Move, Gone, Gone, Gone is a jam-packed collection of swiftly delivered raucous-pretty hits, a sun-drenched living room window before & after being broken. The duo is comprised of drummer/vocalist Adrian Tenney (also of Badlands) and guitarist/vocalist Daryl Gussin, whose voices mesh sweetly & perfectly, layered over ferocious whirlwinds of guitar and drums. This one’s dying for you to play it loud and often.
Angry, visceral and urgent. Essential.

Downtown Boys - ST 7" EP
Originally released on Sister Polygon Records and re-released to coincide with the debut Downtown Boys 'European tour.
DOWNTOWN BOYS EXPLOSIVE DEBUT
Don't miss this truly whacked out party from Providence, Rhode Island's most dangerous political prisoners.
Downtown Boys are: Victoria Ruiz (vocals) Joey DeFrancesco (guitar/vocals) Emmett Fitzgerald (tenor sax) William Cioffi (alto sax) Norlan Olivo (drums) Daniel Schleiffer(bass)

"Sure, this will be a controversial superlative, but fuck it, I’m going out on a limb and declaring right now: Downtown Boys are currently the best active punk band in the United States.
Providence, Rhode Island’s Downtown Boys may not be a household name, even in most punk houses, but they should be. The six-piece utilizes highly danceable manic punk blasts as a soapbox for their confrontational but heartfelt radical political screeds. The self-billed “bilingual political sax dance punk party” draws many influences together to create something that sounds familiar enough to pull you onto its frantic wavelength, but refreshing enough to keep you there. One might detect hints of The Fall, Bikini Kill, The Contortions, and The Ex, as much as the obvious comparison, X Ray Spex, who Downtown Boys share more in common with sonically than simply a saxophone and female singer."
Dangerous Minds.

All 3 records are up in the store. Bunch of new releases in the distro, new Mind Spiders LP, The Marked Men, Exploding Hearts, Divers, Bullnettle, the pretty awesome Macho Boys demo and loads more.
Will have all the new Total Punk and Lumpy releases in soon

Broccoli - Home LP (reissue)
Originally released on Rugger Bugger Records in 1998 and long out of print.
Re-released to coincide with a forthcoming Japanese tour, we couldn't be more excited to be able to release this classic record. Re-Mastered by North London Bomb Factory Mastering with the first 100 on Clear Vinyl. Comes with instant download.
Formed out of Pondlife in the early 90s, the then Scottish outfit embedded itself firmly into the DIY scene, joining the likes of Jawbreaker and The Shithead Dwids here and there, as well as scene regulars Chopper, Hooton 3 Car, Crocodile God, Leatherface and Snuff. Their sound was drawn out of their various interests from hardcore punk to Grateful Dead. ‘Home’, built the bridge between those and late-90’s the smell of SW@MI's turban icons and contemporaries at the time such as Texas Is The Reason and Sunny Day Real Estate.
Nearly 20 years on, it still sounds dark, desperate, urgent and essential. Quite simply a seminal record.
