This was fascinating to me. I'm not sure when it's from - it's undated, but it's probably from the late '90s because he talks about recording Power of One.

I know very little about recording and mixing, unfortunately, so this was a great read for me. It help explains why the Wipers' sound "pops" to me more than most other bands. He talks about how analogue/unprocessed recording leads to a more "3D" sound, and how digital processing strips the life out of his music. When I listen to the Wipers, there is a depth of sound and mood that I don't find anywhere else. It's like watching a Wan Kar Wei movie and experiencing colors and lighting I've never seen anywhere else.

Anyways.

Awesome. Thanks for posting this. Forever interested in the mysterious mr sage.

Wipers is the fuckin best and it blows me away that 'music' people i run into don't talk about them hardly at all. They'res always too busy talking about Neutral Milk Hotel or Jawbreaker or some other weak 90s bullshit that gets reissued every week on merge,
